1st day of Preseason, last of the Winter Olympics!

March 1, 2010
First day of Boston Breakers preseason!
It’s finally here, we had our first day of preseason and it went pretty well.  For an old lady I felt pretty good out there and I’m pretty happy about that.  There are a lot of new faces that are trying to make the team and it is going to be a tough battle.  It was great to be back in the locker room and be around teammates and play some soccer.  Preseason also means that it should be getting warmer soon!

We still don’t have everyone in yet for preseason.  Our international players are not here yet; our U.S. national team players are playing in Portugal getting ready to play in the final vs Germany.  We hope they kick some butt.  So the players in are trying to make the team and be a Boston Breaker!  Fortunately we are under the bubble at Harvard for the week and then head to Florida on the 15th so hopefully by then Florida will warm up.  So check in to my site and www.bostonbreakers.com to see how tryouts are going and stay connected.

Unfortunately the Winter Olympics are over.  I watched the closing ceremonies last night and saw 2 periods of a great Gold Medal hockey game yesterday.  I had to leave after the 2nd period to go get my physical for the Breakers…. It is too bad that the U.S. loss to Canada but from what I heard it was a great game especially at the end.

The Olympics were so great!  I love it no matter if it is the summer or winter it is so great to see athletes compete at the highest level.  Yes you want to win Gold but really to be there is quite amazing.  I have to admit I got tears in my eyes a bunch watching people win/lose and just see smiles on their face.  They have been training there whole life for this one moment, or a couple moments and just like that it is over.

Over it is but a lot of these athletes will take some time off but then get geared up for another competition or start mentally preparing for the next winter Olympics.  I’m sure there a lot of you young athletes out there that have this vision one day to be in the Olympics, and all I have to say is you can do it!

It isn’t easy but it is attainable.  You have to work hard and believe in yourself and surround yourself by others who believe in you!

Always Believe,
Kristine Lilly
